Songbook
The Songbook is your central library. Each song can contain lyrics, chords, song sections, song details, tags, a linked songs, and a YouTube link. A change to the Songbook record is shared wherever that song is used, while set-specific changes such as a working key are kept with the set.
Find a Song
- Use the search field to search song titles, lyrics, and authors.
- Choose a language from the language list to reduce the results.
- Select the tag icon at the end of the search field to filter by one or more tags.
- Select a song title to open Song View.
Add a Song
- Open Songbook and select Add Song.
- Enter a title and choose the song language. (When only one song language is enabled, it is selected automatically.)
- Enter lyrics and chords in the song text area. Add any helpful details such as author, original key, tempo, time signature, capo, notes, CCLI number, or a YouTube link.
- Save the song. It becomes available immediately in the Songbook and the Select Songs window.
Enter lyrics, chords, and sections
Use square brackets around chords and section headers. A line such as [C]Amazing [G]Grace places chords above the corresponding lyric positions. A section header such as [Verse 1], [Chorus], [Bridge], [Intro], [Instrumental], or [Outro] starts a named section. An Intro or Instrumental can contain chords only; it appears in Perform but is not projected as a lyric slide.
| Chord inline with lyrics | [C]Amazing [G]Grace |
| Section header | [Chorus] |
| Chord only intro | [Intro] followed by [C] [Em] [D] [G] |
| Chord name typed after brackets | Type [] and enter the chord between the brackets. |
Moving or removing chords is a song change, so save before leaving the editor. After entering a chord, the cursor stays in the song text area so you can continue working from the keyboard.
Song View
Song View is the reading and preparation view for one song. It shows title, author, sections, lyrics, and optionally chords or romaji. Use the controls at the top to make a temporary working change while you read the song.
| Key | Changes the displayed key. A star marks the original song key. |
| Text Size | Makes the Song View lyrics larger or smaller. |
| Chords | Shows or hides chord text. Hiding chords also hides chord-only sections. |
| Romaji | Shows or hides romaji when the song language is Japanese and romaji is available. |
| Tag Icon | Opens the tag selector. It turns orange when the song has one or more tags. |
| Link Icon | Opens linked-song information. It turns orange when related songs are linked. |
Tags
Tags are user-created labels such as ‘Christmas’, ‘Practice’, ‘New’, or a theme. Create and manage tags in Settings under Songbook. In Song View, select the tag icon to check or uncheck tags. Hovering over the icon shows the song’s assigned tags. Use the Songbook tag filter when you want to find a group of songs again.
Linked Songs
Link two related song records when they belong together, for example an English and Japanese version of the same song. The link icon in Song View lets you see the related title and open the linking flow. Linking does not merge the two source records: each song keeps its own lyrics, language, and original key.
To link a song in Song Edit select the ‘Link Song’, then choose the song that you want to link.
Then, when you add a linked song to a set, you can choose whether to add its partner at the same time. Adding them together lets rediSONG treat them as one set item, while adding separately keeps them as separate songs, so in perform or project mode they will appear as a single song.
YouTube Video
If a song has a YouTube link, Song View shows YouTube Video below the author. Select it to open the in-app video preview. The player can be minimized to a small view in the lower-right corner so you can keep referring to the song.
Import Songs
rediSONG can create a song record from pasted text and supports song-import workflows for PDF and PowerPoint files. Imported content always deserves a quick check before it is saved because chord charts and slide files vary widely in their layout.
- Select Import from the Songbook area and choose the source file.
- Use Source to open the original in the import popout when you need to compare it with the extracted text.
- Review title, author, key, language, lyrics, chords, and section headers in the import check area.
- Correct the text where necessary, then create the song record.
It is important to understand that because of the non-standard nature of PDF and Powerpoint files will often need some extra manual cleanup by the user. It is not desigen to be a one step process, but to add in streamlining the adding of new songs from existing media.
Import tips
- Text-based PDFs work best. A message saying that no editable text was found usually means the PDF is a scan and needs OCR before it can be imported reliably.
- Keep only content you are licensed or permitted to use in your songbook.
- After importing, open Song View and test the chord positions. Use the editor to adjust chords that sit too close together.
- If a source file does not import neatly, paste its lyrics and chords into a new song instead. This is often faster for unusual layouts.
Romanised Japanese
For Japanese songs, add the Japanese text and the available romaji to the song record. The system only offers the romaji controls when Japanese content is relevant, keeping the rest of the interface simpler for other songs.
Romaji can be added to the in ‘Song Edit’, under the each lyric line proceeded by a full stop ’.’
